Is Summerland, BC your favourite place in the whole world where you visit year after year for your big getaway in the summer? What if we told you the off season is just as great as summertime? Here are 8 reasons to book a getaway at Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa from October through May. After all, life’s too short to only vacation in the summer!
Many guests rave about having the hot tubs all to themselves! Whether you like to start your day with a dip or come back and warm up after a wintery walk, soaking is a favourite activity for guests throughout the year.
Summerland’s hot weather from June until September often looks like lounging around the pool and out on the water. However cooler weather may inspire you to discover all the other activities the hidden gem of Summerland has to offer. Plus, you can eat ice cream any time of the year!
Imagine festively decorated tasting rooms with feature food and curated wine pairing menus. Several venues remain open for private tastings along Bottleneck Drive. We highly recommend OK Crush Pad and Sumac Ridge.
Do you look to see where all the locals hang out? Let’s just say that after the busy summer season, the local community is ready to reconnect and comes to life with fun and exciting events and experiences. Christmas exploded into Summerland with the annual ‘Light Up Summerland’ event at the end of November, kicking off the Festival of Lights and many more fun events are lined up every year through the off season.
Getting here is way easier! The roads and stores aren’t packed so traveling will feel like a breeze. When you drive up to the resort, you’ll find ample parking in our underground, heated garage as well.

Are you coming from the wet, overcast weather that lingers for several months in the Lower Mainland, or possibly a polar vortex in Alberta? The Okanagan is the best getaway away from winter misery! Fall and spring prove to be lovely extensions of our warm summer months, usually around 15-20°C. From November through February, the Okanagan boasts glistening white peaks painted against blue skies, plus mild winter temperatures, ranging from -5°C up to 10°C. Best of all, our very manageable weather all year round doesn’t throw off any plans for activities and allows for plenty of soul-nourishing fresh air outside.
You may decide to plan a family photoshoot with a local photographer (email us for a recommendation!) or just spend time wandering about the colourful landscape packed full of vibrant colours as far as the eye can see. Foliage, blossoms, and stunning sunsets make Summerland at all times of the year.
Have you heard the saying, “build a lifestyle you don’t need to escape from”? It’s scientifically proven to be valuable to incorporate rest, relaxation and rejuvenation throughout all times of the year. Weekend getaways in the off season will refresh your energy levels and could make your busiest months more enjoyable.
