Yes, multi-generational Okanagan family vacations can be harmonious, happy, and restful. Here's how.
When you arrive home from your trip, do you fall into your own bed and think “I need a vacation from my vacation”? We get it. Family holidays can be overtiring, overwhelming, overstimulating…. And anything but restful! Everyone is out of their own environment (adults and kids alike), they are often out of their regular home routine, you're planning ahead for meals and different likes/dislikes, and then add the pressure and expectation of a great family getaway. Whew, we're a bit winded just thinking about it.
Is there anything that can be done to help make your getaway harmonious and relaxing, so much so that you return home restored?
Great question and the answer is, yes!
One of our recent guests, who also happens to be a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, stayed at the Resort with her two young children (under 6 yrs of age) and her parents. OK, so just a few people to keep satisfied (insert sarcasm). Keara, the founder of Wonderland Sleep Co. shared four keys for rest success on her blog and we think you might find it helpful! Keara is all about sleep and believes that family getaways can indeed be restful, relaxing, and harmonious for everyone.
The first tip in her blog article is about choosing the right accommodation. This is where Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa really checked the boxes. Her family, including her parents, stayed in a two-bedroom suite allowing for enough space and comfort for everyone. The kitchen came in handy for preparing snacks for daytime adventures and the convenience of adult snacks when it came to evening downtime after the children went to bed. Her family enjoyed a bunch of the resort amenities, especially the hot tubs, the bikes, the boardwalk, the resident ducks, and the short walk to area playgrounds.
We often have multi-generational guests (families with grandparents) stay with us because it means everyone can have a different travel experience, and share in the common goal of creating memories together. Plus, sharing in child-minding duties is a bonus for sure!
Now that you know tip #1, for a restful Okanagan family vacation in Summerland, head on over to Keara's blog for the other 3 valuable tips!
