Skip the airport chaos, avoid the passports, and discover why families prefer the Summerland way of travel.
What’s included when you book a summer vacation at the resort in July or August:
Our suites give families space to spread out without booking multiple rooms. You can put the kids to bed in the bedroom while you relax in the living area with a glass of local wine. It allows the early risers to enjoy the quiet of the morning peacefully while other family members sleep in and start their day slowly.

Full kitchens mean you can whip up pancakes for breakfast or blend smoothies for a midday snack without any stress. For a true summer evening experience feel free to fire up one of our guest BBQs. There is something special about grilling burgers in the open air after a long day at the pool while the sun starts to dip low. The picnic tables surrounded by lush greenery and flowers make it a great spot for a family meal outside.
Guests also love the Keurig machines in every suite which are stocked daily with coffee pods. It means no one needs to get dressed and drive offsite just to get their caffeine fix. However, another great option is to grab a latte to go from The Bistro and enjoy a morning stroll out on the dock.
Take part in family sandcastle competitions, group yoga classes on the Phase II lawn, group soccer games, Just Dance competitions and Nintendo game nights on the big screen in the ballroom. Everything at the resort is designed for you to choose your own adventure. Chat with the Front Desk to see the curated guest activity schedule so you know what's happening during your stay. We're certain everyone will find something they enjoy.

You will find quieter beaches and more space at the pool if you visit between Monday and Thursday.
We have pool towels, laundry facilities, and fully stocked in suite kitchens so you can leave the extra gear at home. Guests can also ask the Experiences Team to borrow DVDs, board games, sand toys to play at the beach, sports equipment and bikes. Finally, we must share about our free "Take-a-book, leave-a-book" library in the lobby of the Phase II building. There's a huge selection of books for guests to look through and take to one of the many indoor or outdoor sitting areas around the resort.
Make time for our art workshops where families can create together before enjoying live music by the lake in the evening. Book an evening campfire timeslot for your crew to close off your day and seal in those special summer memories.
Our team loves to share their favourite activities and places to visit around Summerland. They even have a family photo scavenger hunt available at the Front Desk to help you get to know the top attractions nearby.
Some common local recommendations include grabbing ice cream at Summerland Sweets or tasting the maple treats at Maple Roch. For an inspiring adventure we recommend an experience at Garnet Valley Ranch or a visit to the historic Train Trestle bridge over Trout Creek Canyon.
A perfect day at Summerland Waterfront Resort might start with a quiet coffee on your balcony while you watch the sun sparkle on Okanagan Lake. It would be easy to gaze out at the water all day, but don't forget to listen for a knock at the door! Your delicious breakfast basket just arrived, fresh from the Bistro, complete with tasty pastries, colourful fruit, yogurt and granola parfaits, and orange juice. A slow breakfast is the best way to fuel your adventures and get excited for the day ahead.
By mid morning the teens and adults can grab a paddleboard for an energizing session on the water while the afternoon calls for pool time and a laid back lunch at The Bistro. Make sure to grab one of their popular homemade frozen treats for dessert before they sell out.
After a quick rinse at the beach foot wash stations, you head back to your suite to refresh. While some of the group takes a nap others can borrow bikes from the Front Desk. It is only a short four minute ride along the boardwalk beside the wetlands. You will cruise past the marina and down the lakeshore pathway until you reach the playground at Peach Orchard Park.
As the sun sets the whole family can gather for dinner at Shaughnessy's Cove before ending the night around the lakeside campfire sharing stories under the stars.
This guest said it well in their post-stay review...
"This lakefront resort has everything on location including beaches, a large pool, hot tubs and restaurants. The suites are large and have well equipped kitchens. There are beautiful wineries within a 5 minute drive on the lake. We are coming back in the summer!" — Review from Nat_Simone on TripAdvisor | October 2025
There is a reason our resort buzzes with familiar faces every summer. Families love this place so much that they often book next year’s vacation before they even check out of their current one. This creates a wonderful tradition but it also means our most sought after dates in July and August are snapped up quickly.
We do not want you to miss out on the magic. If you are dreaming of poolside afternoons and sunset campfires we strongly recommend booking your stay today. Lock in your dates now so the only thing you have to worry about is packing the sunscreen.
